FAQ

Is it necessary to have a flue?

It is not necessary to have a flue in order to place a Ruby surround or fire. Our collection of fires is split into different kinds of fires: electrical and bio ethanol fires.

Electrical fires are connected to the electricity grid. The flames are created by a combination of lamps and a low wattage motor. This causes a very realistic image of a fire.

The fuel in a bio ethanol burner burns so clean, that there is no need for a flue.

What are the combination possibilities?

There are many possibilities in combinations. Almost every surround can be combined with practically each fire, as long as the insert measurements are not bigger than the opening of the surround.

It is also possible to place our fires in existing surrounds. The extra space between the insert and the surround can be filled with the use of a fitted frame, made of MDF wood.

Of course there is also the possibility to combine an insert, that is not in the Ruby collection, with a Ruby surround, as long as the measurements of the insert are not bigger than the opening of the surround.

Many of our surrounds can be customized upon special request, if necessary.

How is a surround placed?

As Ruby fires do not require a flue, they can basically be placed anywhere. The surrounds and fires are made of lightweight materials, which makes it easier to place and move them.

What kind of connection is needed for an electric fire?

The only thing necessary for an electric fire is an earthed plug-socket. It is best when this is positioned behind the surround, so the cords are not visible. The Ruby electric fires have a cord of approximately 1.5 meters.

How does an electric fire work?

As soon as the electric fire is connected to the electricity grid, it can be put into use. The different models have various functions e.g. remote control, adjustable flames, thermostat etc. De specific functions of a fire are listed with that fire. All fires have heating, but this can be switched off.

How does a bio burner work?

This revolutionary product is a combination of a flueless fire with a ceramic burner that burns on bio-ethanol.

The incomparable difference between this Bio Flame burner and other similar burners is, that the Ruby Decor burner consist of a ceramic stone, which absorbs the bio-ethanol liquid. When the liquid comes in contact with the air, it turns into gas. Therefore, it is not the liquid, but the gas that burns. This makes the Bio Flame Burner safe, easily inflammable with a continuously burning flame.

What is bio ethanol?

Bio ethanol is a liquid fuel, made from environmentally friendly materials. It is the fuel of the future and is promoted by many environmental organizations.

What are the advantages of a bio burner?

√    Unique Worldwide patented system
√    Environmentally friendly, as it burns on Bio Ethanol Liquid, the fuel of the future
√    Separate burners can be placed in existing fireplaces as well as in all Ruby surrounds
√    Available in following measurements:
      Big:         H 120 x W 575 x D 200 mm
      Small:        H 120 x W 410 x D 200 mm
      Petit:         H 120 x W 410 x D 150 mm
√    Perfect for apartments, houses, bars, restaurants, hotels and offices
√    Safety guaranteed
√    The flames are adjustable and almost undistinguishable from a gas fire

What is the heating capacity of the Ruby fires?

The Ruby fires are meant to be atmosphere creators and can be used as side heaters. We do not advise to use these as prime heaters.

The electric fires have a heating capacity of up to 2000 watt.

The heating capacity of  bio burners is difficult to measure, but is comparable to that of an electric fire.

What is Fossil Stone?

Fossil Stone is a unique real stone, which resembles to marble (polished or unpolished) on a wooden base. It has the touch and appearance of marble, but has a relatively low weight and is therefore easy to place and move.

What is Castle Stone?

Castle Stone is a mixture of crushed stone and artificial resin. It has the appearance of sandstone with its characteristic unevenness. Because it is mixed with artificial resin, the weight is relatively low, which makes it easy to place and move.
